Abstract

According to the WHO report "Global Road Safety," approximately 1.35 million people die every year in road traffic accidents, and up to 50 million people sustain non-fatal injuries. Accidents are the eighth leading cause of death in all age groups, and the first among those aged 5 to 29. More than 90% of all deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries (27.5 and 14.4 cases per 100,000 population, respectively), while in high-income countries, the mortality rate is much lower (9.3 cases per 100,000 population). The contingent of injured patients in 50-80% of cases consists of young men of working age..
