Abstract

The morphological and elemental characteristics of poly[ethylenediaminetetraacetato-aqua-disodium-nickel(II)] were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). SEM analysis revealed well-developed rod-like and prismatic crystals with smooth surfaces and distinct crystal facets, indicating high crystallinity and an ordered coordination framework. EDS confirmed the presence of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sodium, and nickel as the constituent elements of the coordination polymer. The elemental composition (49.86 wt.% C, 4.79 wt.% N, 33.01 wt.% O, 3.32 wt.% Na, and 9.02 wt.% Ni) agrees well with the proposed molecular structure. The characteristic nickel signals together with the absence of impurity peaks verify the successful incorporation of Ni(II) into the EDTA framework and demonstrate the high purity of the synthesized material. The obtained results confirm the successful formation of a homogeneous and highly crystalline nickel–EDTA coordination polymer.
