Abstract

Preoperatively, especially in patients with recurrent disease, it is  advisable to include an MRI of the sacrococcygeal region in the diagnostic  algorithm. This will allow for accurate determination of the absence of bone  damage, the extent of the pilonidal cyst, and an informed decision on the use of a  plastic method for wound closure.
