Abstract

This scientific article examines the role of women in Uzbekistan's judicial and legal system, tracing their historical development and current activities. The article analyzes the life and work of Academician Khadicha Sulaymonova, who left an indelible mark on Uzbekistan's judicial and legal system and is still honored today, as well as her contributions to the legal scholarship of our country. Her tenure in responsible positions such as Minister of Justice and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court serves as historical proof that women can also undertake significant responsibilities with legal knowledge, professional skill, and determination. Concurrently, attention is paid to the professional achievements of women currently working in the judicial and legal system and the opportunities being created for women and girls. Specifically, as of March 2026, 246 female judges are active in Uzbekistan's judicial system, comprising approximately 15% of the total judicial staff. The main objective of the article is to demonstrate the role of women in the judicial and legal system in the past and present, their dedication, and knowledge, and to encourage young people to pursue education and work in the field of law. Furthermore, legislative acts guaranteeing gender equality and women's rights, including the Law "On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men" and new norms introduced into the Labor Code, are analyzed.
