Abstract

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a vital biological medium that reflects the physiological andpathological processes occurring within the central nervous system. The composition of CSFundergoes significant changes during childhood due to ongoing maturation of the brain, spinal cord, and blood-brain barrier. Understanding age-specific variations in CSF biochemical and cellularparameters is essential for accurate diagnosis and management of neurological disorders in pediatricpatients. This article reviews the age-related characteristics of cerebrospinal fluid composition inchildren, including cellular content, protein concentration, glucose levels, electrolytes, andimmunological markers. The findings highlight the importance of considering age-dependentreference values when interpreting CSF laboratory results in pediatric clinical practice
