Abstract

Home gardening for fruits and vegetables is an essential practice for promoting sustainable food production, improving nutrition, and enhancing household food security. The productivity of home gardens can be influenced by a range of factors, including soil quality, water management, pest control, and the selection of appropriate plant varieties. This paper explores various strategies to improve the productivity of home gardens, including the use of organic fertilizers, efficient irrigation techniques, integrated pest management (IPM), crop rotation, and the introduction of resilient plant varieties. By incorporating these modern agricultural practices, home gardeners can significantly increase yields while minimizing environmental impact. The study highlights the importance of community-based education programs and extension services in empowering gardeners to adopt these practices. Ultimately, improving the productivity of home gardens can contribute to healthier, more sustainable food systems and provide economic benefits to households, particularly in rural and urban areas.
